Poetry for your enjoyment

While doing some spring cleaning today, I ran across several poems that I thought would be nice to post here. All poems are copyright Angela Santana.

(A Vision During) Adoration
March 22, 2007

He sat on the altar
His legs dangling off the front
His smile radiant.
He stretched out His hands
and i saw them begin to bleed.
i kissed them so that they would stop
but the wounds remained.
With His right hand
He gave me a piece of His heart.
“See what I have done for you,”
He said.
“Do this in remembrance of Me.”

His mother knelt at the right corner of the altar,
Her eyes fixed on Him with a loving smile.
Her dress was long and beautiful
And trailed behind her.
On her head was a brilliant crown of stars.
Her face was radiant with love.

There now were many souls
Filling the sanctuary.
Angels surrounded us.
Michael stood behind Him.
Jesus said,
“Come to Me, all you who are weary.
Give Me your burdens, your worries, your fears,
And I will give you rest.”

i am Your little flame
Shine me where You may.
Let this warmth within me
be the heat that keeps alive
a soul.

Make me BRIGHT
As the day You rose –
May i make the eyes of the world
shine in joy
only if You breathe in me
Your Holy Fire of Love.

i am Your little flame.
Take me in Your Hands
and hold me near the hearts of men.
Make their worries melt away.
Shine me, Jesus, where you may.
i am Your little flame.

Have you ever wondered
What Heaven is like?
I know it’s the norm
To think halos, harps,
Clouds, and wings,
But come on, folks:
Let’s get real.

Jesus makes me want to jump
Eternally
In an endless mosh pit
Where no one gets hurt.
So i say
Heaven must be like
The Eternal Rock Concert
With sweet guitar solos
And a truly angelic chorus.
The Lord can walk on water
So He must be a killer crowd surfer!
Put out those lighters from your pockets, my friends.
Let it shine
Let it shine
Let it shine

Or maybe Heaven is like
The endless sky dive:
Ever-exhilarating,
No danger of death
There, God would be the adrenaline
Who flows forever through our being.

One more thought
To tickle your brain:
Perhaps Heaven is like
A southern welcome home.
You drive forever
Down the longest dirt road
Until the truck is parked
You walk up the steps
And He opens the door
Saying,
“Baby girl! So proud o’ you!
So proud!”

Holy Thursday
April 12, 2006

i knelt before You on an injured knee
i sang to You and cried for You
and strained to hear You speak.
You kissed my soul in Holy Sacrifice
You covered me with love
You smiled as i sang to You.

Your angels held me up tonight
and hugged me as i climbed.
The moon reminded me of You –
ever present, wondrous light.

i watched the stars dance at Your Name,
flying and burning and breathing for You
They looked like fireworks
set off by the saints.
